As the nation celebrated its 75th Republic Day, a heartwarming event unfolded by Unnati (a school of learning) which is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children from humble background. The teachers took a unique approach by organizing various sports competitions, including a lemon race, frog jump race and one-legged hop race, to bring joy and a sense of unity to the lives of these youngsters.
The event took an unexpected turn when some boys from the local residents, moved by the enthusiasm of the underprivileged children, wholeheartedly joined the competitions. The amalgamation of children from different backgrounds added a touch of inclusivity to the celebration, exemplifying the spirit of togetherness that Republic Day signifies.
The highlight of the event was the presence of Retired Colonel Tikoo as the chief guest. His distinguished background added a sense of honor and reverence to the celebration. Col Tikoo, a beacon of inspiration, not only cheered on the participants but also distributed chocolates to all the winners, turning their victories into moments of pure delight.
Post the exhilarating races, Col Tikoo took the opportunity to engage with the children, delivering a heartfelt briefing on the significance of Republic Day. His words resonated with the young minds, instilling a deeper understanding of the values that the day represents. The interaction provided a bridge between generations, connecting the past struggles for freedom with the present celebration of unity.
The celebration didn’t end with the races and enlightening talk. Every participant was treated to mouth-watering snacks, a tricolour flag, and a badge, all generously sponsored by Amrita Jatia. The gesture added a sweet and tangible touch to the event, leaving the children with not just memories of victory but also tokens of patriotism.
Through sports, inclusivity, interaction with a distinguished guest, and thoughtful sponsorships, the event became a microcosm of the unity in diversity that defines our great nation.
