Walkathon
A 2k walkathon for senior citizens just concluded in Silver Oaks. The event was a celebration of never say die spirit. It was another milestone in our journey towards a happier community.
“Why should our seniors be left behind?” was the initial thought behind this event. After much deliberation as to whether they will be interested or not, will they be able to walk regularly? We decided to go ahead, and to my surprise, we got an overwhelming response, especially in the age group of 60 to 90+ years. It was amazing to see the zeal, excitement, and happiness during the practice sessions. On Sunday 28th January, the flag off for the marathon happened at 11am where almost 60 memebers started the walkathon.
Our congratulations and gratitude to all those who participated with gusto, all the Silver Oak residents who came forward to support our seniors… to walk with them, sponsoring the goodies, and last but not least to all the bystanders who cheered and warmed up the whole atmosphere in the absence of sun on a cold morning and made the whole event a great success together.
Many residents appreciated the event. Manjusha Sawhney said “Superb planning by Kiran & team, we had a great time ! Thankyou for organizing this, waiting for the next now !”

“Kiran, All went well. Most meticulously organised. Nothing was left to chance. You

What an inspiration the seniors have been. Hats off to Kiranji. Saw her doing rounds as early as 8.00am to ensure a smooth session. Our seniors did 2K in a surprisingly swift time with no medical situation. Goes to show we all must continue our daily walks as far as possible. Thanks to the kitchen team also for such yummy treats. –Rahul Shrivastava, Volunteer
