The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has made geotagging of properties under its jurisdiction mandatory. Property owners are required to have their properties geotagged before 31 January 2024 to avail 10% rebate on property tax.
Geo-tagging of properties aims to provide a location-based identification of individual properties and will enable better provisioning of services delivered to citizens by civic agencies. The MCD has launched a mobile app for geo-tagging all residential and non-residential properties.
Property owners need to download the mobile app – Unified Mobile App (UMA) from the Google Play Store. To be able to complete geo-tagging, select the ‘Citizen’ option on the UMA app and fill in the login details, thereafter, select the UPIC for geo-tagging by using registered mobile number, after that select the Property UPIC (Unified Property Identification Code), go to ‘Action’ button and click ‘geo-tagging’ for map location to pop up.
Property owners who do not have UPIC number for their property have to first generate UPIC and then complete geo-tagging of their property.
On request of the Society, a Camp was organized by MCD on Saturday, 13 January 2024 in the Aravali Hall, Kalyan Kendra to educate the residents in geotagging of their properties. Many residents turned up to know firsthand what geotagging is all about and learn the use of Unified Mobile App.
