December Meet Of AIKGA At Singh Farms

All India kitchen garden chapter 8 meet / picnic was held on December 16th 2023 at Singh farmhouse. Renu Singh hosted the meeting. Members were requested to come prepared for the tambola game. Guest speaker was our favourite Drp K Pant.

Members collected at N35, Green Park Extension, Manju bhabhi’s house between 10 to 10:30 a.m. and then all the cars followed each other since we all were going to a new place and the drivers followed the Google directions. It took us almost 2 hours to reach the place. It was well worth the commute.

We landed up in a neat, clean and well maintained farm. It was not loaded with flowers but with green trees. The surroundings where one could play all sorts of games. Family children all equipped with cricket game paraphernalia, started playing as soon as we got busy with lunch.

Renu was very warm in her welcome to each and every guest. As soon as we settled down we were served lovely hot tomato soup with dhokla and quite a few other snacks. Dr PK Pant, our speaker, reached well in time. So he started with his session on organic farming, preparation of ground before sowing flowers / vegetables and fruit plants etc and then spent a lot of time solving the queries/problems of the participants. Since he had to go to another meeting he was served lunch early.

However we ladies got busy with tambola and then another game which I had played for the first time. 1 thali, one katori and roasted channa. The player was given a thali / katori which was kept on the participants head, she had to take channas from the thali and put it in the katori once with her hands. After that channas in the katori were counted, the lady who had mustard more chana in the katori was the winner. The picture below shows Renu taking her turn.

Lunch was announced and ladies were in queue for the sumptuous, simple yet delicious food cooked in the farm. From the dahiwadas, rice pulao, veggies in different flavour and tandoori parathas to gajar ka halwa, ice cream, gajak, reveries etc were taking rounds when the lady started dancing. Pop music did not give them a chance to stop. Spirits were high so were the youngsters, seniors and super seniors, all on their toes.

Monty ji made it a point to be there for our welcome and goodbyes. This gesture was appreciated by all.

With a cup of coffee / tea, we settled our stomachs at rest and slowly started moving to our coach with a lovely small cacti in our hand as a parting gift. Thank you Renu for your warm welcome and hospitality; Dr P K Pant for his important tips to keep our fingers as well as gardens green; convenor Manju bhabhi for her travel arrangements; Bharti was always there to assist bhabhi ji in making and finalizing the program; participants were always there to eat drink and be merry, without them the picnic would not be enjoyable and successful. Thanks to all and sundry for their contributions for this enjoyable picnic.
