Hey! friends this time I spent my new year with my friends in a small village call Dhandan in Rajasthan which is midway between Jaipur and Bikaner in the Sinnar district of Rajasthan. There is a Kuldevi Mandir of Bajaj’s and Bhartia’s and symbolic of eternal love between brothers and sisters.
A very serene place, worth the time and distance. The temple is very beautiful. It’s about two sisters who lost their only brother and jumped in the fire as they loved their brother very much. The two towers of the temple represent the two sisters. It is covered with pure silver in the outer covering sculpted by the artisans beautifully. Temple premises and areas adjoining to it are well kept and people from all parts of the country come here to make wishes.
It has a gaushala where over 100 cows are kept. Milk and dairy products like curd and paneer are worth tasting. I stayed in one of the cottages made by the Trust who looks after the upkeep and maintenance of the temple. This trust has made a school there with the capacity of over 5000 students and made a hostel facility for the outstation students to live. This school also runs buses. It was simply amazing to see that they managed to build a small township in that small village. Working for the welfare of the community.
In the Mandir be attended the pooja and keertan which took place from 10:00 p.m. in the night and ended at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. People who gather here dance and sing joyfully and you don’t even come to know how time flies. The Trust organized 56 Bhog Prasad which is laid inside the Mandir and distributed among the followers till the morning. The meals served are delicacies and delicious. I loved Puri, hing, aloo, kalonji, sweets and what not. The whole atmosphere is lit up in celebration welcoming the new year.
You see people singing and dancing with joyful abandon. I was lucky to witness the event and hope to join and enjoy it next year also. I forgot to mention the camel cart ride which we took to roam around and visit the farmland area closer to the Mandir, where we enjoyed eating the fresh veggies like carrot, radish, turnip and cauliflower. Everything was worth the experience.
