Sarla Bhargava Memorial Trust celebrates her birth anniversary every year. Accordingly, a millet awareness event with the theme ‘Millets: From Farm to Fork was organised by the trust at IIC Lodhi Road on 30th November 2023 followed by a delicious millet lunch.

On the same day, the trust held a lecture on MILLETS – FARM TO FORK.  Dr. Manisha Narayan, Deputy Director, FSSAI Northern Regional Office, highlighted the role of promoting the consumption and improving palate acceptability of millets. She shared insight about optimisation of portion size of millets to be included in our daily diets and the Health Benefits of Millets like reduction of weight, BMI and preventing diabetes, breast cancer, heart diseases and high blood pressure. In the lecture, she also aligned consumption of millets with Eat Right India Movement of FSSAI as well as emphasising that India’s concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – One Earth, One Family, One Future’ can be achieved by promoting consumption of millets globally, millets being ‘nutri-cereals’.
