The Memory of Guru Tegbahadur Ji’s balidan has been kept alive with early morning Nagar Kirtan Yatra since time immemorial in many parts of the city. Last year for the first time in GK-I the yatra was organised by Pahariwala Gurdwara. Nagar Kirtan led by the Panj Payras and the Holy Granth Sahib was taken in a Procession with full Gaiety for Residents to seek blessings at their doorstep.
This year also the Gurudwara Management invited Office Bearers of Pan GK RWA’s and requested them to actively involve the Community, as Guru Tegbahadur Ji’s Sacrifice was for the entire community especially the persecuted Kashmiri Pandits. The RWA representatives enthusiastically offered to set up Refreshment Stalls as the Nagar Kirtan travels the eight blocks of GK-I.
A WhatsApp Group was created and the Route Map and details of preparations were shared and finalised so that the Yatra proceeds seamlessly in the given time-frame without inconveniencing anyone. The yatra started at 7:00 am led by the Panj Payaras was a sight to behold and was enthusiastically welcomed by residents, stopping briefly at various Refreshment Stalls set up by RWA’s. The Talented Children of Mata Gurjari School displayed their Marshal Skills En-route to the beat of Drums. The Turnout was much larger this year as word of mouth spread fast, over a Thousand people joined the Holy Occasion. Kudos to all the RWA’s for setting up refreshment stalls to welcome the devotees and the Gurdwara Management for Clockwork Precision and Timely Movement.
