An Environment Conservationist Honoured

On 24 November 2023, Sanchita Jindal (residing in 205, Greenwich B, Grand Omaxe) received the Ganesha Bharat Ratna Award from MSME Chambers of Industries at Vigyan Bhawan for her contribution for Environment Conservation. The award was given by Mr Alok, DCP, Sandeep Marwaha of Marwah Studio and Dr Indrajeet Ghosh, Global Chairman of MSMECII.

Former Adviser (Scientist G), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, Sanchita Jindal retired in 2018 and now works with several companies as Environment Adviser, mainly on Waste Management (Solid Waste, Plastic Waste, E-Waste, Bio- Medical Waste, Construction & Demolition (C&D) Waste, Battery Waste, Tyre Waste, Solar Panel Waste, Waste Oil, Auto Scrap, Fly Ash and Hazardous Waste) and Environment Impact Assessment for Mining and Industrial Projects. She is an empanelled Expert of NABET/QCI for accreditation of Environment Consultants.

She is post graduate in Chemistry and an M.Tech. in Analytical Chemistry from IIT Delhi; and submitted her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from IIT Delhi. Of her total work experience of 35 years in the field of environment conservation, 28 years were in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Government of India sent her abroad to 18 countries representing India for various meetings, including ISWA 2015 (International Solid Waste Association) at Antwerp, Belgium. She presented many Countries Papers on Hazardous Chemicals and Waste and Solid Waste Management in these countries.

Her vision mission is, “To make India a hub of Circular Economy through enhanced material reuse and recycling to achieve ZERO LANDFILL through implementing Extended Producers Responsibility, thereby reducing natural resource depletion.”

For achieving this, since last 6 years, she is creating awareness among citizens, students, brand owners, business houses and municipal authorities explaining them of the looming environmental threats and responsibilities as well as duties of each one of them. During COVID, she delivered more than 150 lectures on-line on waste management including bio-medical waste and EIA. After, COVID made more than 100 presentations. She advises various industries for minimizing waste and its scientific disposal.

The sector, especially Grand Omaxe society, is honoured and has benefitted by her presence amongst them; and feels happy on the well-deserved reward she received.
