Two Attempted Robberies In Shanti Niketan

SNRA tightens the security parameters

With the rising crime graph in the City the posh colony of Shanti Niketan has also become a target for the unsavory elements. Two attempted robberies in one night points towards the same.

The first attempted robbery happened on Fourth Street around 2:30 a.m. at night on a Sunday. The thief scaled the boundary wall of the house from the back lane and got onto the second floor from a place where a few bars from the grill were missing. The thief then tried to break into one of the rooms on the second floor by breaking the window frame. The loud banging on the wood frame and the shattering of glass and wood woke up the resident sleeping inside with his family. He raised an alarm and managed to scare away the perpetrator.

The second attempted robbery took place on the 6th Street and here too the robber scaled the compound wall from the back lane by climbing onto a planter and jumping inside. He then climbed on to the terrace and tried to open the door of the study situated there. He however was not aware that the Nanny to the children of the house stays in that room. The loud rattling of the doorknob woke up the lady who in turn raised an alarm. The robber climbed down and ran away the same way he had come. All this was caught on the CCTV cameras installed around the house.

Both the residents approached SNRA and requested more patrolling of the area and the back lanes. SNRA on its part has scaled up the patrolling of the back lanes by the security guards at night and has also ensured that the back lanes are well lit at night to deter search break-ins.
