GJCSCF held its monthly meeting on 26th November 4pm onwards at T.T.Hall in Gulmohar Centre. The president Mr Y. Sahay welcomed all the members and informed them that as per medical surveys, researches, expert reports, doctors opinion on mental and physical health of senior citizens, it has shown that with different mental and physical exercises senior citizens could have a good healthy old age life. Easy to learn games and puzzles are helpful in memory loss, cognitive decline and keeps our mind healthy and active as it provides an opportunity to use their mind, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Keeping in view all these points for our members good health, today the Cultural Incharge Mrs Pushpa Mishra and Madhu Bhandari have organized some mental exercising games. He then handed the mike over to them to conduct the days programme.
Mrs Madhu Bhandari announced that the QUIZ CONTEST which she conducted and Mrs Pushpa Mishra kept the score board. She divided all the members in two groups named Dil and Dimag. Rules were explained. No cheating was to be allowed, which wouldead to disqualification and points deducted from that group. The questionnaire for Quiz was designed very carefully, cleverly, thoughtfully and intelligently by Madhu Bhandari. There was diversity, interesting thought provoking topics based on science, mathematics, history, politics, sports, general knowledge, art and culture, literature and day to day life. Some questions were simple, some complex, some were tricky questions. As the game started, our seniors were very quick to answer. Madhu warned some front row members not to answer so quickly as she will choose who will answer as everyone should participate. For more than one hour everyone enjoyed the Quiz Contest. There was laughter, excitement, competition, enthusiasm, happiness, entertainment. DIL Team won over DIMAG by one and half points. Everyone welcomed that result by huge applause.
In the beginning of the game the President of the forum had announced that there were some surprising prizes. The winning team was excited and thought that they would be getting the. However it turned out that the prizes were for those members who were punctual. This was done as it has been observed that members were coming late for the meeting. He handed over a wrapped packet to me. He asked me to open it. Inside there were three small packets. I was to hand over these surprise gifts to the punctual members. I was a little embarrassed as I am always late and promised myself that next month I shall try to come on time. First prize went to Mr. Vireder Saluja as he was the first arrival. Second prize went to Mrs and Mr Sahdev. Mrs. Shashi received the award. The third winner was Mrs and Mr. Chaturvedi Pratibha Chatturvedi received the third award.
Mrs Madhu had framed some special questions for birthday boys and girls, some were very personal questions. A few answered these questions. Mr.&Mrs R C.Gupta have completed 50 golden years of their marriage in the month of November and the birth of the couple also falls in November. All the members congratulated them and wished them togetherness, healthy prosperous long life. Mr.R.C. Gupta sang a romantic song for Mrs. Gupta, she blushed like a new bride. All appreciated Mr Gupta’s singing with huge applause. Mrs Malvika Thakur sang a ghazal. Mrs Shashi Bhardwaj, Mrs. Sunita Rajora, Mr. Dhingra, Mr. Bhan, Mrs Manjeet Sahgal and others entertained by their singing. This was followed by cutting of cake and birthday celebrations. All the birthday boys and girls were presented birthday gifts by Mr. Azad. All enjoyed mouthwatering samosas and tea. Last month Mr Dhingra, a senior member of the forum presented his book “How to be happy with others”, to the president of the forum. The president congratulated him on behalf of forum members and wished for the success of his book.
