In the last edition of Samvada we took up the issue of the bridge on the nallah towards the railway end of the colony collapsing and closed as it’s unsafe for vehicles to pass.
Though a proposal has been sent for making a new bridge initiated by our MLA Dr Madan Lal on priority basis but the work has still not started by the concerned dept.
The second bridge on the nallah which connects Lajpat Nagar to the Gumbad roundabout has shown sign of the steel plates corroding which was used by pedestrians to cross the bridge. Big gaping holes can be seen on the steel plates with the nallah flowing underneath.
With a primary school in the vicinity and people using it to go to the metro station it has become a high risk.
Thanks to the effort made by our RWA President Veena Khanna and Sandeep Basoya MCD has barricaded this area so that no accident takes place till the iron sheets are replaced.
Sandeep Basoya has forwarded a plan to concretise the area so the bridge can be widened and pavement made so that it can take more volume of traffic and help in solving of issues of frequent traffic jams in this area. Hope both the bridges are repaired in time.
