On 4th December 2023, Rotary Club of Delhi South Ex organized a blood donation camp at M block Market, GK 2. Initially, it was a little slow, being a gray day, but as the day progressed and the hustle and bustle of the market increased many people turned up to donate blood.
Donating Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to humanity – The Gift of Life. There is a constant need for a regular supply of blood because it can be stored only for a limited period before use. Regular blood donation by a sufficient number of healthy people is needed to ensure that blood will always be available whenever and wherever it is needed. Rotary blood bank.
Rotary Blood Bank organizes voluntary blood donation camps in and around Delhi to encourage the voluntary blood donation movement. As a result, high quality blood, fully tested against all infections is available to people in life threatening situations.
The volume of blood taken from a donor is 450 milliliters, less than 10 percent of one’s total blood volume (the average adult has 4.5 to 5 liters of blood). Your body will replace the lost fluid within about 36 hours. Special care was taken to enquire about the Donors’ health conditions to be eligible to donate blood. Some were rejected as they had suffered some diseases which restrict a donor. Some had to be sent back as they had consumed alcohol within the last 24 hours. Only young and healthy donors were selected. A good number of young and healthy gym staff from Anytime Fitness; Beauty Salon employees and people working in the market offices and showrooms turned up and donated blood.
Rotary Blood Bank provides Blood free of processing fees to poor patients. Rotary Blood Bank has adopted children suffering from Thalassaemia (a disease that requires blood transfusion every 3 to 4 weeks) under a special project ‘We Care’. And give free blood. Rotary Blood Bank issues blood to all patients suffering from Thalassaemia, Hemophilia, Blood Cancer and AIDS at 50% concession on the processing fee, with no limitation on the number of blood units issued under this category. One should feel great for selflessly giving someone the gift of blood and the gift of life.
