Of late, the menace of stray dogs in GK-2 has been on the rise. Be it pedestrians walking on the colony roads, or walkers in the colony parks, or even bikers biking down the colony roads, everyone has invariably been a victim of dog bites at some point of time or another. As a result, most people are so scared to see stray dogs around them. On the other hand, dogs attack in self-defense as a response to the threat that they perceive from humans.
Several instances of dog bites have occurred all over in our colony in recent times and cannot be allowed to continue unabated. It is not that the local municipal authorities are oblivious to this problem. However, each time they visit our colony to catch stray dogs and transfer them to dog shelters, several dog lovers spring up from nowhere and prevent the Authorities from doing their job. Compassion for other beings is understandable but biting strays can be a threat to the public.
l would like to make a humble appeal to all dog lovers that they should be considerate towards other fellow human beings too. They are welcome to adopt as many strays as they wish to if they have the space to keep them and the will to look after them as per their wishes. All said and done, providing an endless supply of food and care in public places is being very inconsiderate to other citizens who wish to have risk free surroundings. Designated feeding spots away from crowds is the way to go to minimize stray and human conflict.
