On a pleasantly cold and sunny December morning, the ATS One Hamlet lawns woke up to a hustle of activity and an air that resonated with the sounds of Shabad and Gurbani.
The auspicious festival of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurpurab, also known as Guru Nanak’s Prakash Utsav or Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated as one of the most important days of Sikhism. It marks the birth anniversary of the first of the ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The occasion is marked with fervent devotion, spiritual gatherings and the recitation of hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism. The day not only honours the teachings and wisdom of Guru Nanak Dev Ji but also promotes unity, equality and selfless service, embodying the core principles of Sikh philosophy.
In keeping with this spirit, on Sunday, 3 December, children, adults and the young at heart assembled at the beautifully decorated pandal in the amphitheatre. We listened to the soulful rendering of shabad kirtan.
The pink and red hues of the pandal, with loads of marigolds, lent a nice warm tint to the place, adding to the soulful experience.
The event was a joint collaboration of Lotus Panache and AOH. It was meticulously organised with plenty of volunteers from both the societies. There were teams of volunteers for everything. Joda Seva team was led by Navkitan Bajaj, Dipali Anand Puri and Varnika.
Kitchen Seva was led by Rajesh Jairath, Rajan Vohra, Tamanna and Ajay. The popular tea coffee stall was run by Monisha Vohra and Priyanka Singh. Viraj Vijan, Payal Mishra, Shobhit Bahal along with many other volunteers took care of Langar Seva.
It was a remarkable day; one that was extremely well planned and very enthusiastically executed.
