Hamlet is now home to a National Champion!
AOH’s young resident, Zara Anand (T10), won the Silver medal at the 37th National Games Golf Championship. This is a huge achievement more so as our champion 15-year-old stood on the podium between the gold and bronze winners who are Adult Golf Professionals from Punjab & Haryana!
Zara overcame great odds with the help of her coach Amit Dube, who she thanks profusely for shaping her journey in golf and bringing her out of the rough COVID infection and hyperthyroidism a year back.
Our Champ is also thankful of her supportive & dedicated parents – Gaurika & Vivek Anand and a golf – loving atmosphere at her grandparent’s home where she picked the sport as a 4-year-old.
But putting all these advantages together to create a Top 10 position in the Indian Golf Union Ranking, Podium finishes at IGU events in Haryana, Karnataka & Telangana, Hattrick wins at the Junior NCR Cup is the grit & mettle of this power – packed teenager.
Zara is already making a mark Internationally at R&A (UK) and the Dutch Golf Federation events.
Zara continues to make a higher commitment to the game every day, taking it a notch higher than the day before; from choosing an alternate way of schooling to travelling extensively for exposure, she is making all the right choices and backing them with hard work.
While Zara’s consistency and commitment are remarkable, what stands out is her ability to bounce back in spite of the inevitable lows.
Zara is solidly building on to a lucrative career in Golf, but her journey is her true achievement. As the prize is not what Zara will achieve someday, it is the person she has become today! & lucky for us Hamletians, we get a ring side view.
