A renowned NGO, organized a free cancer detection camp on Wednesday, November 29 in Ram Vihar Society Hall. This was sponsored by an organization working for cancer patients and coordinated by Nishi Maini resident of D – 514. The camp was held between 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. and was open to all residents and domestic staff of Ram Vihar.
The Ram Vihar team helped a lot in organizing the camp. Registration started sharp at 10.00 am and continued past 2.00 pm till all present were examined.
The camp screened all for cancer which included CBC Blood Test, BP checkup, oral checkup, mammography, Pap smear, Chest X ray and ENT checkup. The event drew a large response. About 120 persons benefitted from this camp. There were 98% who could not even sign their name. Domestic helpers were more than keen and very willingly waited for their turn in spite of their daily chores.
The three doctors and 12 team members were given a small token of thanks of appreciation and gratitude from the NGO for the wonderful work they did.
The NGO will soon be organizing more camps like this to benefit the needy, who cannot afford such expensive tests.
