Deepawali Mela was held in Ram Vihar on Friday, November 10, on Dhanteras Day, just two days before Diwali. The residents turned up in vibrant colours as they were all in the festive mood. There were games and food stalls organized from 6.00 pm onwards. It was followed by the most wanted Tambola round, especially for children and ladies. A few enterprising ladies along with some kids had put up games and eat stalls. The stalls had homemade biryani and decorative items which drew a large crowd. Handicrafts and linen stalls were an added attraction.
A stall from a school of physically impaired children was put up. This was coordinated by Nishi Maini [ D 514]. These are the children who face lot of challenges in their day to day life. Handmade items like diyas, hand painted envelopes, candles, gift items etc. were displayed for sale. These items were sold like hot cakes. Two girls along with their escort were duly honored and Diwali gifts were presented to them by the president of Ram Vihar.
Around 7.30 pm we all moved to the Society Community Hall where some of the Tambola enthusiastic ladies and children were eagerly waiting. Two houses of tambola were played and very attractive prizes were given. After the first house of Tambola medals were awarded to the winners of Badminton and Table Tennis tournaments, which were held a few days back. As the snowball was not claimed it was rolled over to the next round of tambola, as and when we have.
This day God blessed Noida with rains and it was a real Dhanteras celebration for all residents of Ram Vihar. There was not a bit of disappointment amongst the residents. The entire arrangement was soon shifted to the car garage under the stilt pillars of “Block G”. This unexpected rain was actually very helpful as it cleared the smog and the pollution level also came down. The residents of Ram Vihar do not get perturbed with such disturbances.
‘’Come rain or sunshine, It is always fun time. We residents of Ram Vihar don’t see the weather or the season. We just wish to enjoy every moment with or without any reason. So we forget our worries and enjoy, Just like an innocent child who plays with a toy.” This is the motto we follow in Ram Vihar.
A lot of time and effort was spent in organizing this event. It would not have been possible without the willing and joyous participation of all the residents. Of course our staff worked very hard in the background. We owe deep appreciation and gratitude to all of them.
