Wishtown Golf Course was the venue for a mega golf tournament, the Diwali Cup, on Sunday, 5 November. The event saw 80 golfers participating in the event, and golfers from all tower blocks—Kalypso, Imperial, Pavilion Heights and Pavilion Courts, including residences even outside Wishtown—participated in the event.
There were three categories – Ladies, Men and Seniors (golfers above 65 years of age). There were 16 senior golfers with Air Commodore DVS Trehan, touching 85 years, being the most senior among the participants. The Ladies saw a single lady, Purnima Vir, also teeing off in the morning.
The event itself was very well organized and conducted with refreshments being served on the course for the golfers and smooth pace of play throughout the event. Spot prizes were also announced for winners in each four-ball group for straightest drive and for closest to the pin.
The event was organized by the highly experienced golfer, Jitender Lakhani, who was ably supported by Rohit Singh and Akshat Seth, the manager of the course, along with his team. The Diwali Cup was also supported by a sponsor, YOURSPEX, which provides complimentary home eye test and trial-Ons for a seamless eyewear experience.
After the event, all the golfers gathered at a nearby restaurant, Maamouche’s Alchemy Bar and Restaurant, for a round of drinks and sumptuous snacks. The prize distribution was also done at the restaurant after compiling, tabulating and totalling the scores of all the participants.
