The sound, of festival and the word ‘DIWALI’, engulfs our hearts and mind, with the sound of joy, lights, decorations, diyas, shopping, melas, food, savouries…. and the list goes on and on !!
NFC RWA (Ashoka Park), has, over the years organized ‘Diwali Melas’ to celebrate the ‘festival of lights’ with gaiety and enthusiasm, amongst its residents and to bring them closer, as a community, by enjoying together, the fun n frolic, attached to the festival. However, from 2020-2021, COVID-19, put unwanted impediments, in the way, of such enjoyment. But from 2022, the enjoyment was back, and it continued this year too(2023) with the NFC RWA (Ashoka Park) organizing the Diwali Mela, on 4th November 2023, at the Skating Rink Park, Block-B, NFC. Residents, enjoyed to the fullest, with the mouth watering ‘Purani Dilli Ki Chat and Khana’, games for children, various stalls exhibiting colourful products and much more.
The Mela, was attended, by many residents. It was a delight, to see, so many senior citizens, participate in the fun. The entertainment, was taken over by ‘specially abled children’ who sang through the mela, and kept all enthralled, with their untiring and melodious singing. All attendees, at the Mela, also got an exceptional chance, to hear, some melodious songs, sung by, none other than, the duo of Dr. Narasimhan Subramanium (Urologist at the Apollo Hospital) and his wife, Mrs. Lalitha Subramanium. Some other residents, also joined in, enchanting the whole surroundings and taking all participants at the Mela into yester-years, doling out song after song, from old movies etc. On the whole, it was a lot of fun and was an absolute great, start to the festive season, of colours, lights, decorations and food.
