Dandiya originated from Gujarat and took over almost all of India, especially the metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Many parts of the world too observe this dance form during the sacred nights of Navratri.
Dandiya is a socio-religious dance and is performed during the time of Navratri festival. It is performed in the memory of Goddess Durga’s victory over Demon Mahishasura. The colourful Dandiya sticks represent the Sword used by the Goddess during the battle.
Our Espacians too believe in celebrating every festival with full energy and enthusiasm especially Dandiya. Like every year, this time too Espacians witnessed a fun-filled, exorbitant and fantastic Dandiya night on Sunday, 22 October.
Residents participated in full swing in groups comprising a total of 92 participants. All decked themselves in colourful attires spreading vibrancy around the evening. There were lots of surprise gifts for the performers.
Children were especially appreciated for their hard work and patience. A DJ played some foot tapping numbers. Shopping stalls kept everyone busy with shopping for their favourite decor as well as attire.
A play area was set up to entertain kids with bouncy, trampoline and game zones. Delicious food stalls filled up everyone’s tummy with various cuisines in tow. Overall, it was a wonderful evening with everyone enjoying their bits.
