13th Avenue Residents Protest Against Mobile Tower On Rooftop

Residents of 13th Avenue Lane (1301-1347) in DLF-4 and the RWA protested against a mobile tower erected by Indus Tower Limited. The mobile tower has been erected on the roof of one of the resident’s homes and bears multiple dishes. All of this is at very low height and is located in a residential area, which poses huge health hazards to the people living nearby.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner and DLF, the RWA wrote “Residents are very much concerned and we would request you to investigate who has allowed the installation of these towers in our residential area. Further, who allowed them to keep adding more dishes and increasing their infrastructure from time to time”.

The RWA also claims that the tower company has still not been given any valid legal approval for this installation and has been running for several years illegally. These approvals were awaited from the District Town planner, and have not yet been passed or approved, despite which the towers are still being installed, enhanced and continued illegally for so many years.

After a lot of chasing, the residents were finally able to get the towers sealed by the authorities but as it turns out, they noticed, after a few days, that the seal was removed and the residents are yet to receive any communication on this development.

Many RWAs have taken stringent action against the installation of Mobile towers earlier. The installation of towers close to schools and hospitals and in small lanes should be avoided because of the risk of Electromagnetic Waves generated by these towers.

Most of the mobile towers are over-utilised from their optimum capacity making them a huge health hazard for residents living in the vicinity.
