Karwachauth is an important festival for all married women of Bharat. Karwachauth falls on the fourth day of the dark fortnight of Kartik month every year. From sunrise to moonrise, the Indian wives keep a fast for the safety and longevity of their husbands.
A day before Karwachauth an evening of Mehendi and snacking was organised in the C&D Block lawns. Ladies from different towers came down to get Mehndi put and also shop for Bangles and other items. Karwa was also available at the event. The Karwa, a special earthen pot, is a symbolic representation of Lord Ganesha and is central to the Karwa Chauth puja. It is filled with water and used to perform the puja
On Karwachauth day women came down to the C&D Lawns for the puja at around 4 pm. Everyone sat on bright and colourful carpets and performed the rituals.
