The major services that are required by residents of South City include:
Security services are essential to guarantee a peaceful existence for Resi-dents. The numerous in stances of thefts and one instance of a murder a year or so ago, makes one jittery and insecure. However, without adequate funds, putting a central security system in place will always remain a challenge and a pipe dream.
Maintenance of Flora and Fauna (horticulture-related services in colony and parks):
The payment to maintain parks and central verges is to be received from MCG every month. But as we have over 4 dozen parks and four stretches of Central Avenue, the amount does not fulfil our entire requirements. The following points need to be taken up by RWA.
• Wall/kerbstone paint around parks
• All trees get painted with limestone to keep them away from termites (regular) from time to time.
• Signages related to cleanliness/speed/discipline,
• Trimming of hedges and the removal of weeds that are on the colony roads
Construction sites Management
• We control the timings of work.
• We control the movement of staff coming to work at construction sites.
• ID’s are to be generated from time to time as the casual labour gets changed every now and then.
Apart from the above, there is other maintenance required on a day-to-day basis and expenses are incurred that cannot be seen. Few are as follows:
Emergency Repairs:
• Welding of boards/gates etc.
• Emergency Repair of sewage/water pipeline by RWA Staff
• Repair of any fault in main street lights/ water motors / any minor electrical fault.
Common area Tree pruning
• The pruning of entire common areas is to be done periodically.
Plot Cleaning
• The basic cleaning of numerous empty plots including weed removal.
Other services:
• Painting of gates/ boards/ speed breakers etc from time to time.
• Barbed wire/blade wire is required from time to time to secure the boundary of the colony.
• All electrical feeder panels are checked and maintained from time to time.
All the above services can only be provided by SCRWA if all residents contribute towards an RWA fund for these Value Added Services (VAS). In the absence of regular collection for VAS, SCRWAs will not be able to provide the above-mentioned services and general cleanliness, hygiene and living conditions of South City-1 will continue to suffer. We would request all residents to become members of SCRWA, Agree to contribute Value Added Services to SCRWA and As volunteers, become part of committees responsible for handling all the services mentioned above
