Vipin Yadav organised a Chowk pey Charcha and invited residents of DLF 2 to raise the issues concerning the betterment of the block and to draw the attention of the concerned Authorities. This discussion was organised in J Block Park last month and was covered by a news channel.
Residents who were present on the show expressed their unhappiness with the deteriorating services over the last few years in DLF2 which is supposed to be a posh colony. Some of us who are early habitants of this block explained how, in the initial years, sanitation workers, park Malis, and security guards were adequately deployed to provide civic amenities services. The problem of Safai, and park maintenance was never an issue during those times. The number of Security guards /QRT were easily visible on the ground.
With the growing population and a lot of new houses being built with four floors the services have taken a hit. Infrastructure is not upgraded in DLF2 as a result system is collapsing and will worsen further if attention is not paid by Authorities.
Further, who is finally in charge of civic affairs in DLF 2? MCG or DLF is another dilemma faced by residents.
One of the major burning issues currently faced during this summer was water scarcity. Many residents depend on water tankers and it burnt holes into their pockets by paying a hefty amount to water tanker suppliers. Besides water scarcity DLF was urged to streamline the process of cleaning, tree trimming, park upgradation etc.
With regards to Sanitation, residents fumed over the MCG crippling services on road sweeping which is severally affected due to ongoing strikes by sanitation workers.
Cleanliness on the footpath is shabby. The issue of prostitution at MG Road was pointed out by ladies who were present and strict police action is required.
Menace of Stray Dogs was another issue pointed out by residents.
Traffic Jams at BVM, Aakash Neem Marg/Central Arcade were highlighted.
It was concluded that DLF 2 residents should wake up, ignite themselves and question the Authorities to raise the quality of civic services for DLF 2 residents and make it a better place. They should also participate in voting when elections are held in the near future.
