The upsurge in construction all around us continues to be a matter of inconvenience for many DLF phase 2 residents. We saw multiple issues all around the Q block in the last few weeks.
With 5-6 constructions happening in the Q7 lane itself, the neighbouring residents are irked with the conditions around them every day. The ongoing work in Q-7/19 & 20 has often left lot of construction material or debris on the roadside and inconvenienced the residents around. The issue has been raised time and again with the builder directly and even through RWA GC teams for action to be taken. The same ordeal continues every few days.
The construction work going on in Q7/11 troubled the residents in Q6/11 when their backyard kept being pelted down with debris, cement chunks, hammers, and iron rods from the work from the adjoining site. Despite their repeated request, there were no sheets or cover put to stop the spillage or falling of tools and heavy materials which could cause damage to property and people in the residents’ home.
While private builders and many times their irregularities can be addressed through RWA teams, it is surprising to see the DLF construction teams also causing roadblocks for residents and not following rules. DLF is constructing on two plots at both ends of Q7 and the material spillage on the road, RCC trucks blocking the road and work being done till 9 pm, way over the allowed hours till 7 pm or heavy-duty work on Sundays has irked the residents all across.
One of the sites, Q7/1 is right opposite my house and has become a burning issue. On Sunday 15 October, the work there continued past 8 pm, which had become a norm. When a group of residents approached the site, the staff argued extensively with the group that they had permission to work till late hours but had no written papers to support that. On calling the QRT and the main supervisor on the site, the work was eventually stopped. Even with everyday checks by residents around and reminders to the workers and to the DLF supervisor via the RWA GC route, the late-hour work continued to trouble everyone around. On 26 Oct the site had RCC work going on till late at night and the RCC truck and generator had blocked the road and were causing high-level noise which just broke all patience for everyone around. The supervisor was called and around 9 pm they managed to move the truck a bit to make way for the traffic but the workers finally closed the work only at 10.30 pm. As a next step, the issue was escalated to DLF Vice President Mr. Nitya Mohan by Mr Vikas Thapar of RWA. I spoke to Mr. Mohan the next day too and he has ensured that the matter will be taken up with the team. We have not seen the late working since in the last few days.
