Dussehra, the festival of the victory of good over bad, and is celebrated with a lot of fanfare. Giant effigies of Ravana are installed, and are then burnt, to implicate the victory of Lord Ram. The effigy of Ravana is placed in empty grounds. The story of Ramayana is enacted on stage, enthralling the young and old, alike. Games stalls, food stalls are organised, people come with their families and enjoy the “mela”, to the fullest. Dussehra is celebrate in different parts of India, under different names. In West Bengal It is known as Durga Puja, which marks the death of evil mahisasura by Maa Durga. In south India it is known as Dasara and in Himachal it is known as Kullu Dussehra . In every state the purpose is common , it celebrates the victory of good over bad.
