Gazebo, what was coined jokingly in the 18th century, combining two latin words, “Gaze” & “I shall”, has become almost a garden staple across the world. The cozy canopy that was invented by Egyptians 5000 years ago, to grow vines & offer shelter from rain & sun, has become a community hotspot for park-goers, young & old. One can often spot older groups coming together to chit-chat, laugh, share stories, even sing bhajans. On quieter days, you will find a booklover or two enjoying their favorite reads under the cool shade. Even our maintenance staff, drivers and construction labour could sometimes be seen relaxing or having their afternoon food and siesta & indulge in a little gup shup. We bet the Egyptians never imagined such a happy outcome of their simple invention.
