Lethargic Sanitation Staff of MCD is The Culprit!!

The posh and Fauji Def col is now known for its worst sanitation which is visible all over the colony due to lethargic behaviour of the MCD staff. The Def col residents keep complaining about the poor condition of back and front lanes, blocked rain water drains, etc but there is no one to resolve this issue for last so many years.

What’s The Real Issue?

• The MCD has deputed more than 50 staff, supervisors etc to keep Def col clean. Their working hours are from 7 AM to 4 PM but they hardly work for more than 1-2 hours every day.

• They have been given specific areas but as usual they take a long breaks the whole day after 1-2 hours of working in the morning; hardly seen after 9 am for the day!

• The colony is in bad shape and the residents keep complaining and begging to various authorities, RWA’s to get their lanes cleaned, but these issues are only adding with each passing day!

• The MCD councillor is also helpless due to this casual behaviour of the MCD staff who only work on fire-fighting basis after their supervisors are contacted by the residents directly.

How To Resolve This Basic Cleanliness Issue:

• The MCD councillor needs to be more active in the colony by directing the supervisors and MCD staff to clean the lanes every day; In case of any delays, the councillor must raise the issue to higher authorities including MCD commissioner;

• The RWA needs to be more involved in the cleanliness of the colony by deputing their big team of more than 30 members. As we have representatives from all blocks in the RWA’s, these members must be allocated lanes or house numbers in every block to get their areas cleaned by monitoring the MCD staff;

• The residents also need to educate their domestic servants, maids, security guards etc to not throw garbage in the service lanes or outside the garbage bins. The RWA needs to be more vigilant and take prompt action in case any resident is found  throwing garbage in the back lanes;

Lastly, as done in other colonies, the elected members of the RWA must get active to provide the basic cleanliness by taking rounds in the morning and meeting the MCD staff and supervisors to get all the lanes cleaned every day. There are other issues like poor street lighting, poor condition of colony parks, roads, which must be resolved by the RWA’s by better coordination with the concerned authorities.
