September 23rd saw an unusual book launch in GK2. The spotlight was on a 9-year-old author who is a young prodigy indeed.
The Milly and Me series is a labour of love for Aahana Mathur, a student in 4th grade at Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park.
The books showcase her innate ability to bring characters and stories to life through her boundless imagination in writing. Her attention to detail is evident on every page, as she meticulously designs each book, ensuring that every element, from the storyline to the illustrations, harmoniously coexists.
The young talent happily shared that the series borrows from her life as her mother used to narrate bedtime stories to her. In each of those, there was a dog called Milly and she came up with her own series, building on the stories she heard.
Aahana has already penned down six self-published books, collectively known as the Milly and Me series. The books take the reader on an adventurous journey of a beagle pup named Milly. These books, a testament to diligence and creative flair, are proof of the student’s budding talent as a writer and illustrator.
COVID-19 induced lockdowns came as a welcome opportunity for Aahana to explore her writing abilities. During that time, she penned down a few pages. Later on, as part of a ‘Passion Project’ at school, she demonstrated her passion for writing. Eventually, she collated all of these narratives to launch the books which were edited at home by her parents.
Aahana’s journey serves as an inspiration not only to her fellow students but to individuals of all ages. Her ability to channel her creativity into tangible works of art is a testament to the limitless potential that young minds possess. Her determination, coupled with her unwavering passion for storytelling, exemplifies the power of nurturing one’s talents from an early age.
The book launch was well attended by friends and family, celebrating the budding writer’s exceptional talent. As she takes her first steps into the literary world, we eagerly await the magical tales she will spin in times to come.
