Misrepresentation can be Harmful for overall Goodwill in Society
Parallel RWA’s started cropping up in GK-1 over the past eight years, starting with M-Block, S-Block and then E-Block, wherein Groups losing Block Elections floated Parallel RWA’s. S-Block RWA was taken to the court by the losing side accusing the winning Group of Malpractice. A few years later fresh elections were held under Court Observers and the reigning Group won again. Later the losing Group floated a Parallel RWA resulting in depleting Subscription to the Duly Elected RWA.
Come Festival season, the Parallel Body started organizing Social Functions on the same dates, leading to tussle over park space. Things came to a boil when parallel Group started collecting Donations, posing as Block Representatives. Things got ugly when competing for Social Functions, parallel group started using Political Patronage to cancel Park Permissions.
E-Block met the same fate, where the losers, albeit on Political Patronage floated a Parallel Body, using similar tactics of disrupting Social Functions; cancellation of Park Development Grants by MCD; loss of Membership Subscription etc. The malice continues till date, giving the Resident Freeloaders an excuse to avoid paying RWA Subscription to any Group, leading to loss of revenue.
The disease spread to the Apex Body GKRA, the then reigning Group lost Elections and floated a Pan GK Society, taking in the fold all the Parallel RWA’s and other sulking losers of Block Elections. All such Formations start off with a lot of Bonhomie and use their Political Clout and goodwill earned during their tenure as Office Bearers to collect donations. Over time they fade away as word spreads among Authorities about who the genuine RWA’s are.
This year again after a Change of Guard in GKRA, delayed for over 15 months on pretext of Court Stay, another Pan GK Society has been Floated. Unable to retain hold and failing to get even a Seconder for contesting Elections, two GKRA Blocks have joined the new parallel Society, along with many members of the previous defunct Pan GK Society. It is really wonderful for people to come together for welfare activities, the question is, why they cannot serve without a post in their respective RWA’s?
Parallel Societies use goodwill earned during their days as GKRA Office Bearers for collecting Donations for new Society, innocently keeping quiet about their present position in the parent Body. GKRA in an interaction with a few prominent Contributors were informed, that the previous Office Bearers while collecting Donations did not inform them about Change of Guard in GKRA. By all means continue the good work, but misrepresentation should be avoided to retain the Goodwill and Confidence of Donors and Contributors.
