Come, be a part of the next chapter!
As in previous years, Meghdutam Rangmanch will conduct the Meghdutam Annual Festival in mid- November. Cultural programs on weekends will offer a platter full of music and dance performances, exhibitions, and creative workshops for all age groups.
Meghdutam Rangmanch is a real world, live platform to promote community engagement in the creative arts. It not only encourages talent to perform but aspires to offer avenues to promising candidates to reach a wider audience at bigger forums.
Why do we need such community initiatives? Not many know that we acquire music before language. Yes, we sing before we talk, and we dance before we walk. Yet, even though our music and dance instinct is so innate, it does not blossom in a majority of us.
Every child is a born performer, yet most lapse into a state of artistic passivity. By age six nearly all children have acquired the ingredients necessary to put together ideas creatively; but strangely just within two years, by age eight, fewer and fewer children are creating or devising ideas.
Folks who would like to participate or simply enjoy live music, enjoy dancing and engage in creative arts, are unable to do so either due to pressures of school and work or lack of an enabling environment in the family and neighbourhood community.
Music and the arts bring communities together. Community music enables people to make music with each other. It also fills residents with pride when local talent, people they know, participate in live performances.
The construction of a performance for an audience requires craftsmanship. If we are to ever hold and grow an audience, we must build layers of appeal and anticipation in our events. This cannot be done by an artist performing on stage. This is the role which Meghdutam Rangmanch plays.
Understandably, all art is not financially viable and requires a certain level of patronage. We seek your understanding and support. We hope you, as individuals, or a group of friends, and RWAs/ AoAs will continue to offer us support as before.
Tell us what you think, tell us what you want, and become a part of the forthcoming edition of Meghdutam Festival. (see ‘Factfile’ for contact persons)
