As Abba Once sang “What would life be? Without a song or a dance, what are we?”, and to reiterate their famous lyrics, “What happens when you put a bunch of music lovers in the same room?” Well, they end up cooking melodies! On 25 August, Carlton organised its first ever Musical night, hosted by the residents and songs performed by the very talented singers perched in Carlton.
The songs which were sung made some nostalgic whilst other songs got the crowd swinging to the tunes, either way the residents were seen enjoying the music whilst sipping on some hot chai. However, the highlight of the evening was the wonderful dedications made by a few singers to their respective spouses in the crowd, who were seen cheering in support.
“Music not only brings people together but also uplifts one’s soul. Listening to our friends sing was a memorable experience. I look forward to attending more such events and will invite my friends from other societies to come witness the dearth of talent hidden in Carlton”, one resident mentioned.
The songs varied from old-time melodies to little more recent songs enjoyed by one and all. We look forward to attending many more of such melodious evenings. “thank you for the music, the songs I’m singing, thanks for all the joy they’re bringing…so I say thank you for the music, for giving it to me”.
