On 28th of September, Thursday, at around 2 p.m. in front of C- 1800, a lady was brutally injured receiving a severe head wound by a speeding car, that perhaps was crossing the inside of the C block to avoid the traffic on the main road.
The irony of the Humanity is that she had been lying in the pool of her own blood and was crying for help for a long time. Many motorists passed by, many commuters perhaps watched her lying there but the urban necessities- they could not stop by to help the needy, counting the breaths of her life.
Later in the day Jasbir Kaur, a resident of C – 1641, was passing by and saw the mishap, took the initiative immediately and sent her with the delivery boy to the Paras Hospital, in the same auto rickshaw she was using to run her errands. The paras Hospital charged the family of the victim 34000 rupees after the request to shift her to AIIMS.
This is another story… Many residents came forward to help the victim since later it was found out she was a maid working in Sushant Lok and could not have afforded the sum charged. Anil Taneja (C-1785) also visited the hospital and extended all possible help.
The police were informed, and they went through the routine investigation of the area with the help of private CCTVs. People are awaiting the outcome. The road provides a shortcut through the Paras Hospital lane and some drivers pass through it, as if on the highway.
Colony’s speed limit is around 20 km but what to do about the certain motorists who have to go places without considering the pressing need of others to survive? Accidents do happen but deliberate ones, how to find a remedy for them?
