The ‘Community Centre’ which is the most popular shopping/eating market for all surrounding areas, although not popular at all for the Government Departments, suddenly witnessed interest by the same Government Departments, be it, MCD, PWD or the others.
Am sure all our readers must have had a chance to visit the Community Centre and see the wonderful sprucing up that was carried out by the departments ahead of the G20 Summit.
In addition, the entire area of the ‘Community Centre’ was cleaned up, and above all, was maintained in that condition till G20 ended. During the first two weeks of September, the entire place seemed to appear to be one out of fairyland, with lights beaming, clean roads/footpaths, no litter strewn around, squatter free, ample place to walk, etc. It was a pleasure indeed !! But then sadly, since the recent past, it is slowly coming back to its original self again !!
RWA’s of all surrounding areas are constantly updating their respective and collective requests to the concerned Government Departments to maintain the cleanliness of Community Centre, make it squatter-free and regulated and look after it to enable people to use and enjoy it, but in vain. At all times, the departments have raised their respective hands by citing shortage of staff, sanitation workers, acute funds, non-disbursal of funds from the government in control, etc. However, the actions by the same departments taken in these first two weeks of September have negated their very own difficulties…isn’t it ? They have shown that if they wish to, they can do it. But they do not, for reasons best known to them. Having seen the difference, residents and the market association have put forth a request to the concerned departments to try and keep the ‘Community Centre’ maintained in the same way. As all say, “where there is a WILL there is a WAY”.
