Teej is a fun filled festival of ladies celebrated in the Shraawan month which is during the rainy season and its green all around. Teej is a festival of celebrating girl child and pampering the ladies.
Teen function was celebrated for the very first time in Anand lok on 19th August with full participation of colony ladies of all age groups in Dharam Vira community centre. This was the first only Ladies get together at colony level initiated by Mrs Aruna Gupta .
The hall was decorated with fresh flowers and a beautiful rangoli pattern was made on the entrance. Not to miss a Jhoola, decorated with flowers, was hung on the tree in the green area of the community centre. This was very well done by Mr. Vinod Gupta, ARA Manager. A mehandi wali and Churi wali which are significant in Teen celebration were arranged for ladies.
Tambola with Bollywood sawan songs made by Ms Rachna Aggarwal, Ms Rashmi Mathur and Ms Sarita added a lot of fun to this celebration. Quiz and other entertaining games were played.
Ladies sang the traditional sawan songs along with Dholak. It was lovely to see ladies dancing on these songs. Ms Asawari, a great Kathak dancer and pride of Anand lok, gave a special Dance performance.
Some ladies got home made mouth watering delicacies like chat, multigrain dhokla, cake , samosa, nimbu paani, tea etc which were served in the end and were enjoyed by all present during the celebration.
It was the effort of the whole organizing team whether it was food, decorations or other arrangements. The function was enjoyed and appreciated by all the residents and we hope this continues every year.
