MLA and Councillor emphasize increasing the green cover
Trees are the most benevolent givers in nature. They are our breath and life of our future generations. In line with the vision of Shri Arvind Kejriwal, our honorable Chief Minister to increase green cover of Delhi by manifold, our beloved MLA Shri Somnath Bharti ji held a plantation drive on 18th August 2023 at 8:00 am in Friendship Park opposite J12 Green Park Main.
Invitations were sent in all Mohalla Sabha groups/ RWAS/MWA groups of Ward 150 and all the MCD Schools of the ward. Personal invitations were all sent across. Banners of the event were also installed in more than 10 parks of the ward. Bharati ji and his team members ensured smooth and timely execution of the event. Over 5000 saplings were arranged from the forest department for plantation and free distribution for everyone who were part of the event. The event started on time and there was a comfortable arrangement of chairs for everyone to sit. Later refreshment boxes were also served.
Pits were nicely dug up by MCD horticulture department all around the Friendship Park for the plantation of saplings. Bharti ji along with our councilor Sarita Phogat ji gave a very inspiring speech. He shared his vision and how he plans to execute it. He spoke about increasing the green cover by planting more and more trees in and around the whole ward. Help in concretisation of trees and beautifying it which is a NGT rule. Installation of garbage composter machines in each ward and how it will help in segregation many fold and produce black gold (compost) which can be further distributed and utilized in parks and by the residents of the colony.
Pledge forms were distributed among residents and everyone who participated in the plantation drive. All pledged to be the guardians of mother nature and not to harm the environment. Young children participated with great enthusiasm and zeal. Most of them narrated poems written by them on mother nature. Each one enjoyed them thoroughly.
