The Shiv Narayan Mandir Committee (30) and Hanuman Mandir Committee(31) organized the function of Janmashtmi with great pomp and splendour.
Janmashtmi ,also known as Krishna ashtmi or gokulashtmi is the birthday of Lord Krishna,the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.It is celebrated in the August/September months on the ashtmi of Krishna Paksh or the eighth of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadon.
A pandal was set up to perform the pooja. It was magnificently decorated with colourful lights and beautiful flowers. Another huge pandal was set to accommodate devotees. Events included bhajans ,keertans ,singing of Lords name with devotion,puja aarti,blowing of conch. Incense was burned and the idols of Krishna were decorated in different attires with garlands and peacock feathers.
Main Attraction was the idol of Krishna in infancy in beautifully decorated cradle. Each devotee had the desire to have the soulful experience of rocking the cradle. Ladies and children were seen in their best attire for the auspicious occasion. Some toddlers and children came dressed as Bal Krishna
A team of professional singers was called to present devotional songs and bhajans.Suneel Jain and Meenu Sharma sang exceptionally well. The residents danced to the tunes of bhakti songs.
The programme continued till midnight when arti was performed. This is the time when Krishna is believed to have been born. The residents dispersed after the Prasad distribution.
