Wake-Up Call!
As per Newspaper Reports DLF Ltd. & Medanta Hospital are going to construct a 400 Bed Hospital adjacent to Archna Complex in GK-1, which is earmarked for PUBLIC UTILITY, which is Leased by MCD to Lal Chand Public Charitable Trust since 1989.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is a DLF Family Trust and has done no community work in GK-1 in the past 60 years. Instead, over a period of time they have taken over the Management of the Mahavir Mandir, run by another DLF family Trust from local residents, resulting in dwindling Footfall and zero involvement of the residents of GK-1.
The little presence the Trust had was in the running of Summer Fields School, which was also abdicated after selling out to KR Manglam Group, a Corporate Entity and is a constant Bone of Contention with Residents due to its unbridled expansion. It appears DLF floated these Trusts not to serve Society, but to Keep a firm hold on Prime Public Property.
The Proposed Hospital is against the Concept of Land Use Distribution (Residential; Commercial; Industrial & Institutional) which is the Main Object of a Master Plan. The infrastructure of GK-I is already strained, having crossed saturation point and any further Commercialization will be Chaotic. A 400-bed hospital will increase Population Density of the area manifold, thus adversely impact the infrastructure & Environment which as it is, has collapsed.
Logistically also the Site for Hospital is unfit for any Emergency Service. Traffic Jams are common feature at this tri-junction, acute problem of Parking spills over from the Archna Complex next door, not to mention the mushrooming of Petty Shops and allied services, that will ultimately percolate into the Residential area.
Alarmed residents called their respective RWA’s to stop this ill-conceived project as there are several Hospitals within three Kms of GK. GKRA has formed a ‘Special Assignment Committee’ under the Chairmanship of Rajiv Kakria (E-Block) and Renu Rosha (M-Block). A delegation of GKRA MC Members have met and written letters to Minister & MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj and Councillor Shikha Rai to help stop this project.
GKRA informs that a Signature Campaign will be launched in all the Blocks and neighbouring colonies to be affected adversely. RWA representatives fear due to the Clout of DLF / Medanta, passive efforts like Letters & Signature Campaigns may not bear fruit……. “Residents Will Have to Step Out and Physically Protest at the Site and Show Their Collective Displeasure to the Elected Representatives.”
