Which Religion Teaches Us to Scald a Tree While Worshipping It?

The famous Shri Bahuguna of “Chipko” movement would have been very sad, had he seen the condition of some “Peepal” & “Bel” trees in S Block Park.

It is shocking to see that some residents, in the garb of a ritual, offering prayers, keep burning Diya’s, pots & pans with burning ghee or camphor near the “Peepal” & “Bel” trees near the mandir (See the pics).

What kind of Pooja is this? I asked one such devotee, if he can put his palm on top of the burning Diya for a few seconds! He had no answer.

In spite of our several requests, people still dump statues & photos of various Gods & Goddesses near Bargad & Peepal trees! So disgusting. A few days back, a few members of SBWS requested both the Pandit Ji’s to sensitize and inform the so called devotees, to put the figurines in a pit near the Mandir.

Another major issue is the offering of food articles like Bananas, Poories, fruits, sweets etc. in front of the trees. This food becomes stale & rots, giving a foul smell. Why can’t the food items be given to poor people?

Is this the way to please our Gods and forefathers???

Recently, I saw the statue of Ganesh, the much-revered God , perched on a dust bin in front of the mandir.

So disgusting and shocking!!!

May I request all the devotees, management of mandirs and Pandit Ji’s to please take appropriate steps to stop the above practice. Let us give respect to our Gods in a genuine way.
