The 77th Independence Day celebrations took place in Eldeco Utopia in front of the clubhouse. Tricolor flags, balloons and buntings were used to decorate the area around the clubhouse to create a patriotic atmosphere.
The program began with the flag hoisting ceremony by AURA President Sh. Devendra Mishra followed by the national anthem. The AURA President then addressed the residents, followed by the much anticipated cultural program.
The program started with a beautiful rendition of Vande Mataram by Seema Parag Gupta and Rajlakshmi. Asmi, Seemaji’s daughter danced to the song. Dances and a skit by talented children of Utopia followed.
A visually impaired boy Pradip Jyoti Gogoi sang the famous ‘ Jahan daal daal pe sone ki chidiya’.The melodious rendition of the song and Pradip’s spirit got a big round of applause from the audience.
The other highlights were the Kathakali dance by Preeti from BFA libraries and a performance by the ladies of Utopia, which had dances from five states of India (West Bengal,Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Kashmir).
The celebrations came to an end with a flag march by security personnel and Utopian residents. The march was led by AURA members and more than 200 residents participated in this march. It was a heartwarming sight to see elders and children walk around Utopia ,while others were in golf carts, carrying the Indian tricolour and chanting “Bharat Mata ki jai”.
