Teachers Day Special: Ishaa Bansal Of Princeton

Many of us believe ‘A to Z’ sounds mean Phonics. But that is just the tip of the iceberg; a very minuscule concept when it comes to Phonics. Ishaa Bansal is a resident and teaches Phonics to many kids in Princeton.

The first wave of Covid-19 came as a turning point for Ishaa and she closely witnessed her little daughter learn through online classes. As her little daughter embarked upon her journey of education from class nursery, little did Ishaa know, that things were unfolding for herself too.

With Ishaas’ primary education done in the United States of America, she had a lifelong imprint and a clear thought of how the education of her daughter should be. However, things didn’t somehow align with Ishaas’ thoughts vis a vis the education system in India, and that is where she decided to take matters into her own hands, especially when it came to the English language.

She went back to her roots in the USA and with her father’s guidance and contacts, who is himself a world-renowned Scientist, she started her research work with USA’s finest teachers. As an Economics (Hons.) student herself from Delhi University, research was Ishaas’ passion, and during her research she discovered a mammoth of concepts, which could be imparted to young minds in their foundational years, making them extremely confident readers and writers.

She firmly believes that the foundational years are the most important years for the children, and making their concepts clear from Day-1 is extremely essential. Ishaa believes in holding the child and the parents’ hands together to make a difference.

Her liveliness can be witnessed throughout her workshops, with the kids giggling their way home. Her content is her strength and she develops her content based on an individual child’s understanding.

It’s her content and magical way of teaching that has enabled her to be associated with a few world class Universities. She has been helping to lay a strong foundation not only for Indian students but also internationally. It’s her vision to bring a revolution globally when it comes to Phonics or ‘Science of Reading’, as Ishaa fondly describes it. She has helped more than 50 kids worldwide and continues to strive to grow a family of Happy Parents and raise confident readers and writers.
