The Annual General Meeting of Govt. Servants Cooperative Society, Vasant Vihar was held on Sunday, August 20, 2023, in the historic Kalyan Kendra. The proceedings commenced with the observance of two minutes of silence in the memory of forty-three members who had left for their heavenly abode during the year 2022-23. Thereafter the annual report for the year 2022-23 was presented by the President of Society, Lt Gen Shankar Prasad, PVSM, VSM.
Gen Prasad began his presentation by saying that it was the 6th time that he was standing before the members to present the annual report of the Society and maybe the last time before he dem
its his office on completion of his present term early next year. He would be leaving with a sense of pride and achievement for turning around the financial health of the Club, achieving a profit of Rs. 16 Lakhs – the highest ever in the history of the Club. The members responded with a clap in appreciation of the excellent work by Gen Prasad and his team. Grish Sareen, Chairman Finance and Food Sub Committees received special appreciation and accolades for boosting the food sales resulting in the food sale of Rs 5.25 Crores against a budget of Rs.4 Crores. This is by far the record highest food sales in the history of the Club.
Highlighting the important activities and events undertaken during the year 2022-23, the Vasant Vihar LitFest 2023 was the best both in content as well as presentation, said the President. The expenses for the hosting of the LitFest were met by the Club through sponsorship without any financial burden on the club exchequer.
Anil Gupta said that the charges towards unfiltered water supply and the Club Guest charges were high and requested the management for their review. Vivek Tandon said that in view of the increase in the club membership manifold, there is a need to create additional accommodation to create additional facilities.
The attendance this year was comparatively low as compared to the earlier years. Many of the familiar faces were missing due to old age or having sold their property.
