Tale of Two Kitties – The Birth of The 3 Musketeers

My children had found a new toy at no expense and zero stress to me! In fact, my daughter enlightened me by saying, “Mom, do you not know, cats are stress busters, as your body secretes oxytocin when you pet them and that is a happiness-inducing hormone.” Why then did the world run after money for happiness, or spiritual solace for inner peace, while all we need is CATS, to be happy? I thought to myself. Never mind, I agreed with her. Yes, she did lift our spirits up, as long as she didn’t scratch our furniture. She was a bundle of joy for my kids. Her gait was stylish and her aura no less than that of a lion.

Finally, the day arrived. Meowth was gone for more than 2 days. My kids were worried, “Where is she? Has she delivered? If yes, where did it all happen?” Then began the frantic search for the much-awaited kitties. Mihir came running, jumping with joy, “Mom, she has delivered the world’s cutest babies…one looks like a leopard, is grey and spotted and I am adopting him for sure. The second is fully black with a few white spots and the third is white and brown and black. They are adorable and they have been delivered in our very own lawn, hidden under the trees in one corner.” All of us ran to take a closer look. They were another of God’s cute miracles!

And then came the Naamkaran ceremony. They were named Kallu, Brownie, and Leo in accordance with their fur colours (and of course, this is in order of seniority). Meowth was very protective of them though she did let us get up close. It all seemed very exciting and entertaining, till we realized, it came packaged with a whole new set of responsibilities.

More to come…..in the next issue
