It is often said that the best way to teach a child is to do it yourself. The person who personifies this line is Meet Sagar Singh Rajpal, a young, enthusiastic engineer residing at D-132A.
Born on October 5, 1986, in Jalandhar, Meet is the son of Amarjit Singh Rajpal and Paramjit Kaur. He pursued his graduation (B.E. Hons) from BITS Pilani Goa Campus and has been a dedicated employee of BHEL since 2009. Currently serving as a Manager in the Project Engineering Management Division of BHEL, Meet has demonstrated a remarkable journey of determination and passion.
Meet is happily married to Preetinder Kaur, and together, they are blessed with two daughters, Kiranjot Kaur and Ekroop Kaur, who provide him with unwavering support and motivation.
Though Meet’s journey wasn’t always marked by his present vitality, his transformation is a testament to his dedication. He once weighed 95 kg and realised the need for change in November 2019. Embarking on a journey of diet control and brisk walking, he managed to shed 20 kg. However, he still felt weak despite his progress. It was a moment of inspiration, sparked by a friend’s cycling pictures, that led him to the world of cycling – though he admits that it was his daughter’s insistence that her father accompany her while she cycled in the park that got him started.
From childhood, Meet always had an affinity for cycling, and the sight of professional cyclists riding road bikes stirred a sense of exhilaration within him. In October 2021, he rekindled his passion for cycling by participating in the Tour de 100, a 100-day cycling event. Over those 100 days, Meet’s cycling prowess grew, enabling him to cover distances ranging from 5 km to an impressive 200 km in a single ride.
Introduced to the world of Randonneuring by a friend, Meet embarked on a journey of long-distance endurance cycling. Conquering distances of 200 km, 300 km, 400 km, and 600 km, he achieved the prestigious title of Super Randonneur, not once but twice within the Audax calendar year.
Meet’s achievements continued to multiply, from completing North India’s most challenging 1000 km BRM to conquering solo hill climbing rides. His dream of cycling from Noida to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and back was realised, marking a significant milestone in his journey.
Currently, Meet is poised to take on the Paris Brest Paris event, a dream ride for every endurance cyclist. As a testament to his versatility, Meet is not only a cycling enthusiast but also an avid runner. He has conquered numerous half marathons (21.1 km), 10 km races, and an impressive four full marathons (42.2 km).
Meet’s dedication and passion have garnered him a collection of over 40 medals and 7 trophies from various cycling and running events over the past two years, a true testament to his commitment to pushing his limits and achieving greatness. This can be seen at his home, where medals and trophies cover every inch of one wall in the drawing room.
On August 17, Meet embarked on a journey to Paris to participate in the prestigious Paris Brest Paris event, where endurance cyclists from across 70 countries test their limits. With his family’s unwavering support and his indomitable spirit, Meet Sagar Singh Rajpal continues to inspire everyone around him.
We extend our best wishes to Meet for his endeavours!
