Pratibha Jain Crowned Teej Queen & Savita Sahni First Runner Up
RWCS celebrated Teej program in Gangotri hall with colour, song, dance, fun, traditional clothing and lot of bling.
Two jhoolas were tied with ropes, which reminded us of the old days when in Teej melas these types of jhoolas were enjoyed the most by ladies.
Savita Saxena welcomed the audience and started the program by lighting a diya in front of Lord Shiva and Parvati and a dance by Ruby Porwal on Lord Shiva.
The program comprised of group songs, dance skits and lot more. Skit by Kusum Garg, Pratibha Jain and Shobha Dani was quite entertaining and made everyone laugh. Sapna Bansal also asked few questions on Lord Radha and Krishna from the ladies and it was surprising to see the quick answers coming up from the audience.
Dances were performed by Neela, Rekha, Karuna, Indu, Anishka, Mansi and Ankita. A group dance of 8 ladies (Poonam, Ria, Neetu, Sudha, Asha, Savita, Sangeeta and Neeru) was highly applauded and the way they danced was appreciated by the audience. Best part was that Ladies of all age groups even elderly ones could be seen participating in all stage performances and they enjoyed all the programs.
The most awaited part of any Teej program is the Teej Queen contest. This year the organizers thought of doing it differently. They asked the contestants to get ready in attire of different states. The 6 contestants who took part were Mansi Garg as Maharashtrian, Indu Bansal as Gujarati, Pratibha Jain as Haryanvi, Savita Sahni as Uttrakhandi, Sharmila Maity as Bengali and Ruby Porwal as Rajasthani.
All were looking different in their costumes that they chose state wise and they were judged by Kalpana Bhushan a renowned kathak dancer. She crowned Pratibha Jain as Teej Queen and Savita Sahni as the first runner-up.
Food was served outside the hall and there too ladies danced and sang on dholl. The program on the whole was very entertaining. Teej bazaar was also a big attraction. Ladies in large numbers were seen purchasing from the stalls. Rakhi, souns, suits, bed sheets, cosmetics, kanhaaji’s poshak bangle stall, artificial jewellery. All the shopping was of ladies interest.
