Once a merryfeet member, always a member
Line Dancing in some form or another has been around since recorded time, according to historians. Folk dancing and cultural influences lent its vibrancy to this form and hence it is essentially a social form of dance. It has built an unspoken bond for many in Vasant Vihar since its inception at the Vasant Vihar Club!
I have taught and danced this form for more than 13 years in New Delhi and now in Gurgaon, and find that it has become a common language that connects people, from various cultures, ages and mindsets. Communicating with the elements of rhythm, music and dance, an underlying collaboration is created, building faith and trust.
I feel we have built a community which bonds us over music and dance. The air is clean and minds focussed on stepping up for a meditative experience across the floor. Line Dancing is the healthy route with dance for fun and fitness!
Technique, repertoire of step terminology, challenge to the reflexes with new dances every fortnight, satisfy the urge to learn, with a sense of achievement that comes with stepping up together. MerryFeet Line Dance has been a unique experience for many in Vasant Vihar & beyond. Mixed age groups, starting mostly from the thirties or sometimes lower, dance together. The oldest and proudest MerryFeeter is eighty five this year. During Covid restrictions, students across the world enjoyed learning online. Currently they have 10 clubs named after flowers.
It is important to mention here that the MerryFeeters, group captains, and event volunteers are priceless in the cheer and teamwork they bring to the MerryFeet family, all bound by our rhythm! Once a MerryFeet member, there’s always a comfortable zone to come back to, even after years!
