I met this bubbly, young looking, girl in the club, the other day. We got chatting and I asked her to write, for the Samvada magazine or look for people, who the residents would like to know better. Her friend, immediately sprang in and said why don’t I interview, this young girl, standing right in front of me?
So, here I was, at D 827 New Friends Colony, to meet Neeru Sharma. Believe me she looked like a college student to me, BUT, lo belo! Standing in front of me was a mother, of two grown up kids!
As the story unfolded, I came to know that Neeru is a certified yoga, meditation and a holistic wellness coach. Who knows what plans, God has in store for us.
Married at a young age of 20, Neeru was all set to become the perfect wife and daughter, to her in-laws! With the support of her husband Abyajeet Sharma, who is the secretary of the New Friends Club, she soon became the backbone, of the family, looking into their overall wellbeing.
Once she set everything on track, her creativity and desire, to do something, besides being a good homemaker, took its course. She convinced, her conservative elders, to allow her to work, part time. She explained to them, the need of her soul, to do something, besides daily chores. She soon started working at the American Embassy School, as an ad hoc teacher. She also collaborated with her cousin and started a fitness studio, named Transformation in Sukhdev Vihar, during this period.
As everybody knows Covid brought major changes in everybody’s life, everything came to a standstill. Post Covid Neeru, trained at the UCMAS, and started 4 Abacus schools, of her own.
Having worked for 4 years, in this field, she felt this was a crucial time, for her children. She quit and gave a year, to her growing up children. Presently both her children are abroad studying.
Life took another turn here, even after maintaining a healthy and sporty lifestyle she developed PCOD. Who knew this was the beginning of another long journey. She got to the bottom of this and realised it a lifestyle created disease. She joined yoga classes and went on to do several certified courses in this field. Meditation, nutrition, and other holistic approaches to a balanced heathy lifestyle. Not only did she get rid of her problem, but she was also motivated to help others, with similar problem.
While we were talking, I came to know Neeru was from the family, who owned Sukhdev Vihar, a posh colony of South Delhi. It used to be their ancestral property, which was later given to people for almost peanuts! It was such a pleasure to meet this talented, multi -faceted, hidden talent, of New Friends Colony.
Singing, is another area of her life, which came to her, during a meditation session. She realised that there was an unexplored part of her, which was blocking complete freedom. Neeru just needed the kick start, her music journey began and eventually ended in forming a band with her close friend Tanu. Now she sings, Art of Living bhajans with Tanu and another colleague. Performing on stage needs a lot of spunk! There on, stage was our very own Neeru Sharma regaling audiences with her chorus, stories on God and, well anything that would hold the attention of the audience.
One life span, so much to do! Time seems to fly but the stories of these spunky people, inspire many to make, better of their lives.
