“Yoga takes you into the present moment, the only place where life exists”
- Maharishi Patanjali
Every year on the 21 June, International Yoga Day is celebrated to honour the ancient healthy art of life which helps humankind to fuse its body and mind. The father of yoga, Maharishi Patanjali introduced the world to the power of yoga. Years later, Yoga is still a source of solace to people seeking respite from the whirlwind of modern life.
Brahmakumaris led the Yoga Celebrations this year in Suncity, Park 2. The celebrations included the practice of Rajyoga Meditation, an age-old self-healing process which emphasises positive thinking, motivation, harmonising relationships, enhancing mind power, experiencing inner peace and overcoming anger.
Residents of all age groups took part in the celebrations enthusiastically despite the rain. The yoga asanas designed to stretch and invigorate the mind and body were followed by musical exercises which kept the residents in high spirits.
In the embrace of the vibrant flora and lush green grass of Park 2, the residents also experienced the connection between one’s soul and nature. The residents left with an inner sense of calm and mindfulness. We hope to see more of such enlightening yoga sessions in the future, not just on Yoga Day, but the whole year around.
