Rahul Khera (C70, GF) 39 years, was born & brought up in Ashok Nagar, a small town in Madhya Pradesh. He did his primary schooling in his hometown and thereafter pursued his Engineering
in IT from Pune & passed with a distinction. He then took up a job in Gurgaon in NCR where he worked for 11 years.
In 2017 he quit his job & started a social enterprise by the name of Balancing Bits with the idea of working in sustainability in waste management and for the past 5 years, he has been working in this field.
Rahul is married, his wife also works in the IT Sector and they have a 13 years old son who studies in class 8 at Heritage School. Rahul Shifted to Suncity along with his brother in 2005 after completing college & since then has been staying here. He finds Suncity to be a very nice place where people are socially interactive & it’s at the foothills of the Aravallis.
Rahul since childhood has been inclined towards working in the environmental & Social field. His first initiative in Sun City was the community fridge the basic purpose of which was to reduce food waste, which curd provides food to needy people & in turn, Reduce waste generation. Once this started in Sun City & caught the attention of many people & was reported on social media.
Another initiative taken by Rahul was in the field of waste management & composting. The first project was started in 2018 & today he is working with 35 bulk waste generators helping them to process kitchen & horticultural waste. The project has given employment to about 40 people from the lower strata of society. He has also been instrumental in water conservation & getting rainwater harvesting in Sun City. Rahul conducts cleanliness & awareness drives inside Aravallis forests.
Rahul feels that each individual in their way can help him in his initiatives by taking a pledge not to litter & segregate their waste, being aware of water conservation & consumption in homes & supporting the RWA in such initiatives they take.
