Bach flower therapy was founded by Dr. Edward Bach who was a successful bacteriologist and homeopathic physician with a lucrative Harley Street practice.
This system uses the pure essences of flowers of a higher order. Plants have been used for medicinal purposes since centuries. Dr Bach however makes a distinction between those plants that relieve symptoms and those plants that truly have genuine healing powers. These are the ones referred to as “Plants of a higher order”. We are all souls on a journey and when there is imbalance between the physical body and the soul then it leads to physical illness.
The human soul contains all 38 qualities of the Bach flowers. Hence the quality that is in imbalance in the patient is brought to balance with those remedies, hence re-establishing connect of the soul and personality at the point it has been broken.
Different remedies are used for different problems. We may have anxiety, stress, fear, phobias, bitterness, anger as an example. These are natural human emotions but when they become excessive or disbalanced they can cause many mental and health issues. Bach flower remedies restore balance in the disturbed emotion/emotions hence restoring calmness and well-being in the individual.
The 38 remedies of Dr Bach have been categorized into 7 groups as follows- fear, uncertainty, insufficient interest in present circumstances, for loneliness, those who are over-sensitive, for despair, anguish and hopelessness, over concern for people.
Bach flower therapists first understand in detail about the condition/emotions/needs/ desires/ imbalances etc in their client and gently council them on how to better manage their day to day life. Based on these observations, they will select and mix & match remedies from any or few of the above categories and help restore peace and balance in their client’s life.
